Centenary
This guitar is based on a guitar built by Domingo Esteso in 1928 for Daniel Fortea, Francisco Tarrega’s disciple and a legendary interpreter. So it happens that Fortea was also a guitar teacher to Felipe Conde´s father and luthier Mariano Conde Salamanca.
In the summer of 2014 Felipe, together with Maria and Felipe Jr., decided to base the Centenary model on this particular guitar because of the interesting play of coincidences that make up its rich history. It is a superb guitar built with the very best materials especially set aside for this occasion. It was built using Domingo Esteso’s original solera, and the methods employed in its construction are those employed by Esteso and Felipe’s father alike. The interiors are hand polished and intricate purflings decorate the harmonic top and also surround the traditionally designed rosette. The machine tuners have been especially hand made for the occasion.
The design bears the Esteso hallmark with “100º” engraved on one side to mark the anniversay. As a true Conde, it is a very comfortable guitar. The sound is old, pure, crisp and warm characteristic of the Esteso-Conde saga.
